Kamilah Weems is a builder and a developer. Having over 10 years of hospital and healthcare operations experience in various roles, she has developed or helped develop several new departments and positions at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP)
In her current role as the Administrative Director of the Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation at CHOP, Kamilah is part of a team that helps to identify potential spinouts, pursue potential commercialization opportunities, and develop early stage ideas, including innovative devices, therapies, mobile applications, and software tools. As part of the original leadership team, this Office works to create an entrepreneurial spirit throughout the organization to advance pediatric innovations and is responsible for all entrepreneurial activities within CHOP. Kamilah’s position is responsible for the operational goals of establishing and maintaining systems and processes as well as building strategic relationships with local, regional, and national partners.
Prior to this position, Kamilah was the Special Assistant to the CEO at CHOP. As the first person to hold this role, she worked closely with the CEO on special projects and initiatives. During Kamilah’s time as the Operations Manager for the CHOP Care Network she was responsible for project implementation for the Network’s 50+ sites, including assisting with the opening of several new physician practices. Concurrently as the Operations Manager, she also managed central scheduling for the primary care offices.
Kamilah has B.S. in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana and a M.S. in Organization Leadership & Development from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Originally from Michigan, Kamilah has lived in Philadelphia for 10 years.
